Research Awards
IFFGD’s Research Awards (initiated in 2003) recognize the significant contributions of investigators in the field of functional GI diseases. To date, 45 researchers from around the world have been honored. These awards aim to encourage collaboration among clinicians and scientists, ultimately advancing the understanding and treatment of both adult and pediatric functional GI and motility disorders.
Research Grants
In addition to the Research Awards, IFFGD has been offering Research Grants (since 2007) to support innovative research projects focused on understanding and managing functional GI and motility disorders. These grants are awarded through a competitive process, with applications reviewed by an independent Selection Committee. The goal is to fund high-quality research that leads to improvements in patient care.
Travel Awards
IFFGD first offered Travel Awards in 2023. To date, we have presented Awards to 23 young investigators from around the world.
These Awards recognize the accomplishments of investigators who are engaged in significant research in the field of functional gastrointestinal (GI) disease. Our intent is to encourage the participation of clinicians and scientists in multidisciplinary efforts aimed at advancing the understanding of functional GI and motility disorders in adults and in children that can ultimately lead to better treatments and cures.
Preceptorship Award
In February 2024, the International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD) awarded its first preceptorship grant of $5,000 to an early-career physician with an interest in the clinical aspects of functional gastrointestinal (GI) and motility disorders. The grant is for a four-week visit to a medical center with expertise in these disorders.
Through these awards and grants, IFFGD continues to support and recognize outstanding research efforts, aiming to improve the lives of those affected by functional GI and motility disorders.
