Hello, I’m 27 yo. I’ve had IBS-M since I had memory, it took along way down to be diagnosed in the past with the condition. Right now it’s been worse since I feel like this thing is progressing, I’ve never experienced an attack before, usually it was only a small biting pain in my left side when walking, but now its bloating, constipation, sometimes diarrhea and a burning sensation in the face (I have checked my temperature and it’s ok). I may fear this thing may turn into IBD which would be devastating for me. However I have manage to stay on the fight, even with my pessimistic attitude towards everything. I definitely recommend getting therapy or talking to someone about this, my therapist helped me looking at the worst scenarios I tossed her, from outside the box and it did actually helped, I remember those scenarios now and some times it makes me laugh (either how ridiculous they are or how distant it is likely for them to happen). When not in therapy I like finding stoic rules and phrases.

On my personal belief if you are single keep it that way, no one will understand, cook, appreciate and take care like you do, just keep busy with what you like and if you can’t afford it keep shifting, don’t give up on doing things. If you are on a relationship with someone that understands and take care of you well… then more power to you.

I’m also learning how to increase my index pain, this will vary from person to person of course. For example I will take a very hot or cold shower from time to time, if I feel like I can get through without pain medications I’ll definitely do it, when exercising I would walk for five minutes or more, do more than one push up or hang in the pull up bar for longer (if some part of my body won’t work I gotta strengthen the one that does).

I have to tell you, this take a lot of time to figure it out, where I live medical care quality has been declining dramatically, “your lab work is normal” is what I keep hearing, I guess they are expecting me to come to the ER bleeding out of every hole so they can feel proud afterwards cause they rescued me from near death. Another thing that helps me is this kind of forums and knowing people with the same conditions, you can find a lot of helpful tips.

Finally I would say it is on you, how you choose to experience this illness, pain, condition. It is your life and you know what needs to be done, you are no less than anyone else. It is not selfish to look out for yourself no matter what you decide to do.
