ANGELA’S PERSONAL STORY

I am a 16 year old suffering from GERD. I was first diagnosed when I was around 5 years old. But I suffered from it since I was a newborn. In addition to GERD, I also have asthma and allergies. I’m basically sick often and my allergies trigger my asthma, which trigger my reflux and vice versa. I have lost my voice from the acid several times. I had my second reflux induced asthma attack and it was caused by exercise. My reflux also seems to flare when I’m nervous and I’m not sure if it’s anxiety. Anxiety and depression seem to run in the family. At this point I’m starting to run out of options on how to live a normal life. I can’t exercise like others, I have to limit my diet, have 7 medications in total, and I just want to be a normal teenager. I would really appreciate some advice. I don’t want to wake up in pain and having to take more medications because of it. Thank you. * Quick addition. I am not overweight, I am 5’1 and weigh around 106 pounds on average. My weight fluctuates a lot and at one point I weighed around 95 pounds.
