Young Advocates In GI Committee

The Young Advocates in GI Committee is a volunteer leadership initiative designed to elevate the voices of young individuals impacted by pediatric gastrointestinal and motility disorders.

Why This Committee Matters

Young people living with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders face unique challenges as they navigate pediatric care systems and transition into adult healthcare. These years can be complex: medically, emotionally, and socially. Yet youth perspectives remain underrepresented in national GI advocacy, education, and research efforts.

The Young Advocates in GI Committee was established to change that.

This committee ensures that IFFGD’s programs, resources, and advocacy initiatives are informed by the voices and lived experiences of young people directly impacted by functional GI and motility disorders. It also serves as a supportive community where young patients can connect, collaborate, and share their stories in meaningful ways.
