276-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for IBS and Other FGIDs

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy originally developed and used to treat mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety. CBT is grounded in the belief that our thoughts (cognitions), feelings, and behaviors are all related. In this article, the authors describe how CBT helps reduce symptoms by targeting the brain-gut connection in IBS and other FGIDs and how it is practiced.
